Based on open technology, EBSF developed its IT architecture platform giving the possibility to operators and organising authorities to use public transport data anywhere in Europe through common mechanisms, standard rules and protocols. This platform represents the on-board and back-office architecture of the bus sytem. Interoperable fleet management and multimodal information are made possible together with a cost-efficient and smart power management. Advanced scenarri of bus operation are tested through simulations and in real operational conditions.

The EBSF test bench is the real life integration of EBSF IT architecture. This virtual check proves the concept of an open architecture based on standard interfaces, communication protocols and installation rules. The test bench has been developed by the joint cooperation of main European PT stakeholders, bus manufacturers, suppliers, Public Transport associations, operators and authorities. The result is an interoperable and multimodal platform based on Public Transport information systems.

The demonstration performed in IT-Trans will present the main results of this EBSF IT architecture in terms of interoperability. Veolia Transdev and INIT will show some scenarii based on vehicle simulation, dynamic passenger information, advanced vehicles monitoring system and Multi Application Driver Terminal integrated in the dashboard.

The main goal of this demonstration is to explain the standard mechanisms used on the IT architecture to obtain integrated and interoperable platform. Specifications and installation rules of this IT architecture will be published publicly in the next months.

The EBSF test bench proves the concept of an open architecture for Public Transport applications. It is a major innovation for the interoperability and multimodality of Public Transport networks based on integrated and shared information. EBSF is working closely with the CENTC278WG3 group in order to integrate the results of the project with existing European standards. The maturity reached by the development, and the commitment of such a large set of partners is the most powerful answer to the Public Transport needs for efficient information management and communication systems.
